Dr. Ashok Arbat, Director, KRIMS Hospital said that the past year was a learning experience for all. There was a huge difference in the symptoms, outcome, severity, and death toll of the first and second covid wave. Comparative study shows that the death rate was high in the first wave of covid.

Dr. Ashok, who is also the head of Vidarbha Hospitals Association (VHA), has said that the doctors were very well prepared in the second wave of covid. He must say that despite all the difficulties and limitations, he handled the second wave of covid very carefully.

It was a learning experience for many young doctors working in these government hospitals during the year 2021. Dr. Mukul Deshpande has said that it was a once-in-a-lifetime tragedy and there is hope that he was chosen to deal with the difficult situation.

Many people have lost their loved ones during the year. Social activist Megha Khare has said that this year has been filled with painful stories of children losing their parents and elderly parents losing their children. Some could not even attend the funeral of their loved ones. The worst consequences of this epidemic were uncertainty, suicides, and mucormycosis. He found it very difficult to manage some cases in the year 2021.
