Man presumed dead in tiger attack found alive

Chandrapur: The case of a tiger attacking a tendu leaves collector couple on Tuesday in the Talodhi range has taken a very interesting turn. Forest workers found the missing husband of the woman alive on Wednesday, which was allegedly killed by a tiger.
Vikas Jambhulkar (62) and his wife Meenabai (50) had gone to the Boldha forest of Talodhi range on Tuesday to collect tendu leaves. It was only after the villagers informed the forest workers that Meenabai was killed by the tiger in the forest. RFO KS Dodhne has also reached the spot and recovered the woman’s body in the afternoon. Since her husband Vikas Jambhulkar was also completely missing, it was also feared that he too had been murdered and the tiger had taken his dead body.
The search for the missing youth was going on till the evening, but he was released after it rained.
The search operation was resumed on Wednesday morning and then soon a team found a confused Vikas Jambhulkar sitting on a hill about 500 meters from the attack site. He has a lot of injuries on his head. Forest officials have sent him to Nagpur for treatment.
Camera trap installed near the attack site
The search for the woman’s husband has brought a whole new twist to the case. This same incident was earlier considered a very clear case of a tiger attack, Right now it is being looked at from a new perspective. Forest officials are currently probing the case from the angle of suspected murder.
The sources also claimed that the camera trap installed near the attack site did not detect any movement of the tiger at all. Along with this, senior officials have also ordered Meenabai’s postmortem to confirm the exact cause of death.
Meanwhile, the Forest Department had also paid ex-gratia amount to the victim’s family on Wednesday for performing the funeral formalities. Forest officials have also engaged the police department to conduct further investigation.
