Mayor Election in City in the coming week
Mayor plays an important role in any city and its development and similar is the case with Nagpur. As we see the tenure of the current mayor Mrs. Nanda Jichkar is coming to an end, we see the elections for the position have been scheduled in the coming week for Nagpur. Having said that the elections would be held on 22nd November while it would take around 27 months as Jichkar is getting three months extension period.
The elections are going to be held on 18th November and all the leading parties in the city have filed the nomination for the same including the BJP, Congress, BSP, Shiv Sena, and others. The Dr. Punjabrao Deshmukh Memorial Standing Committee at the NMC Headquarters in the city would be accepting the nominations in the city. Once the names of the candidates would be announced then the votes would be cast followed by the announcement of the new Mayor along with the Deputy Mayor of Nagpur City would take place.
Having said that, the 53rd Mayor of the city would fall under the general category for which the urban development department of the state would be reserved for the post of NMC for general candidates for the open category. As this year we will have the mayor from the open category.
