Covid-19 claims first life of a corona warrior in Nagpur

Nagpur: Doctors have become the saviour since the fatal COVID-19 pandemic came into existence. But unfortunately, their life is at risk every now and then while treating such patients. A same was observed in the city where a 32-year-old doctor, deployed at Warora sub-district hospital in Chandrapur, died on Friday.

A native of Rajura in Chandrapur district, the frontline Covid-19 warrior was on a contract under the National Health Mission. He was posted at the Covid Care Centre in Warora since its inception.

This, however, is the first death of a Covid-19 warrior who got infected while on duty.

On August 6, he developed symptoms and was diagnosed with the infection. He was then shifted to Covid Care Centre at forest academy in Chandrapur. His condition deteriorated after 4 days and was shifted to ICU at Covid Hospital in the city. He breathed his last on Friday afternoon.

Vijay Wadettiwar, Guardian minister,  expressed his condolence to the family of the 32-year-old deceased doctor. He said that administration officials, medical officers, and full-time frontline workers serve the patients with complete determination.

They should, however, also take care of their own health. District collector Ajay Gulhane, who himself is in isolation, has extended his condolence and called upon the medical officers and staffers to take complete measures while handling the covid-19 patients.

On Friday, 1,677 cases were reported. These include Nagpur (1,228), Amravati (118), Chandrapur (57), Wardha (47), Gondia (44), Yavatmal (40), Bhandara (35), Washim (35), Buldhana (34), Akola (33), and Gadchiroli (6).
