Property tax defaulters to face strict action by NMC
The action is being taken to meet the revenue target set in the corporation's budget for 2021-22.
For the past few years, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation has been stepping up its enforcement of property tax defaulters. The Tax Department has begun the process of auctioning off the property and pursuing other legal remedies against such defaulters. The action is being taken to meet the revenue target set in the corporation’s budget for 2021-22.
To recover the tax, the department has already auctioned off plots from Unique Coop Society, Narendra Nagar Vikas Society, Vishwajeet Coop Society, GNSM Government Press Employees Society, Bandhu Housing Society, Hill View Coop Housing Society, and Vrunda Dau’s bungalow in Laxminagar.
The Municipal Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) has urged such individuals to submit the tax amount as soon as possible in order to prevent legal action. Other individuals should consult Zone Offices for information on property taxes and deposit the required amount by December 31. Individuals who pay their property taxes for the current year by December 31 will receive a 5% discount, he further added.
