Regional Meteorological Department has not yet issued any heat wave warning for Vidarbha

NAGPUR: Although the Regional Meteorological Department has not yet issued any heatwave warning for Vidarbha, in most of the districts the maximum temperature remained well above the normal mercury level.

The officials of the Regional Meteorological Center (RMC), Nagpur have also said that there is absolutely no possibility of a heatwave in the region for the next about five days. “As of now, maximum temperatures in most districts of Vidarbha are marginally above normal – by about 1-2 degrees Celsius,” They said.

However, some drops in mercury levels may also be seen because there is a lot of possibility of thunder and strong winds in this area in the next three days. Heavy rain is also expected at isolated places over Yavatmal, Akola, Chandrapur, Washim, Buldhana, and Wardha. “We are expecting ‘weather’ on Wednesday and Thursday. Meteorologically, weather refers to the occurrence of activities like rain, thundershowers, clouds, moist air, etc.,” officials said.

As reported by TOI, Vidarbha received 10.8 mm of rain between April 1-14, which is much higher than the normal of 3 mm for the same period.

Heatwave warnings have not yet been issued

On Tuesday, Chandrapur was the hottest in the region with a day temperature of 43.6°C. After this, the maximum temperature of 43.2 degrees Celsius has been recorded in both Gondia and Bramhapuri.

Nagpur also recorded a maximum temperature of 41.2 degrees Celsius, which was almost one degree above normal. A very slight increase is also being observed in the minimum temperature of most of the districts.

Although heatwave warnings have not yet been issued, The authorities have also advised the citizens to take precautions and stay hydrated to avoid heatstroke. “Avoid going out in the sun, especially between 12-3 pm, and avoid vigorous activity when out in the afternoon. Do not go out barefoot and cover your head with a cloth, hat, or umbrella. It has been said in the advisory of the department.
