Road Inside Bharat Van Finally Gets Closed in City
Its been a year to see small group environmentalists started agitating against the Bharat Van road plan that could have chopped out many trees inside it. They took this campaign hard and tried roping in other people along with the local media group Times as well to report this matter to the higher level. The urban mini forest of Bharav Van was in danger as the plans were set to make roads inside it making the green zone look pale and dirty.
However, as the case went to the Bombay High Court Nagpur Bench the project was put on hold. The PIL was filed by an eco-friendly activist called Jaydeep Das who is based in Nagpur. The constant awareness created by the Times Group also helped to garner good support for this cause that finally ended this threat of losing the green zone to the roads in the city.
The Nagpur Bench while hearing the PIL finally closed the case by considering the adverse impact it will have in the city. The NMC had rejected the proposal of the Maha Metro to construct the 18 meters roads inside the Bharat Van by chopping down 550 trees for their station. NMC was then seen submitting its report to the Courts. The court then intervened in the matter by giving its decision that no road would pass through Bharat Van. This decision has made the local residents of Nagpur to rejoice particularly the ones who have been conscious about the noble cause. Stay tuned to know more about it and others only with us.
