Nagpur: Adding one more facility to the health center of the city, the MVA government has finally given a full-fledged approval for setting up a superspecialty hospital with about 615 beds at Indora in North Nagpur. Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Superspecialty Institute of Medical Education and Research (DBSIMER) had submitted a detailed plan for this institute about a year ago.
According to the estimate of 2020 year, it was to be built and ready for about Rs 1124 crore, but now its cost has increased and has increased to about Rs 1165 crore.
According to reports, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Superspeciality Institute of Medical Education and Research (DBSIMER) 615-bed Tertiary Care Hospital, to be built on a land of about 7 acres near Kampti Road, is expected to start work by the month of March next year.
The nearly 11-storey twin blocks are likely to take at least about three years to complete. Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) is the nodal agency for the project of 615-bed Superspeciality Hospital.
Five new superspecialty courses
The reports further state that at present, only OPD services will be provided in Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital and Research Center (BAHRC), Which will be called DBSIMER only after the completion of this project well. This 615-bed superspecialty hospital project has been severely delayed due to investigations and multi-departmental involvement.
Apart from this, the government’s focus on tackling the dreaded second wave of coronavirus kept this cabinet approval pending.
About five brand new superspecialty courses, one dental OPD and one PG department have been added to this project plan. Apart from this, 47 additional beds have been added in the hospital, which is finally counted in 615 beds, 17 PG courses and 11 superspeciality courses.
Over the past year, the finance, planning, social justice and medical education departments have thoroughly vetted the project, which was envisaged to cover more than 9 lakh square feet, the report said.
According to reports, Polan was originally deposited around Rs 1280 crore, but it had to reduce the manpower and other requirements to make it a project of Rs 1124 crore.
However, at the time of investigation, additional grants were allocated due to which the final cost has come to about Rs 1165 crore. Presently, the Superspecialty Hospital at GMCH is the only facility to provide such services to patients not only in Vidarbha but also across Central India.
