Door to door survey of TB patients from today

Under this campaign, the health department teams will visit all the houses in the identified areas of district Nagpur.

Nagpur: The door-to-door survey was a very successful measure to detect the cases of coronavirus during the dreaded first wave of covid and the second wave. The government is now using a similar strategy to trace tuberculosis patients. Tuberculosis search campaign will be run in district Nagpur from November 15 to 25.

Under this campaign, the health department teams will visit all the houses in the identified areas of district Nagpur. And then collect samples from all residents with symptoms of Tuberculosis for a very long time. Accordingly, their CB-NAT and X-ray test will also be done.

District Tuberculosis Officer Dr. Mamta Sonsare said, “With this, all the members of these teams will be surveyed by the family members. Anyone who is experiencing fever, cough, and sudden drop in weight for more than 2 weeks. He will be tested for Tuberculosis.” In case of these diagnoses, the local health institutions will provide completely free medical treatment.

It will be surveyed in every household in rural areas and also in selected areas of urban areas. And there will be only 2 members in this survey team. This will include ASHA volunteers in rural areas and Arogya Sevak in urban areas.

Record Keeping Instructions

The National Strategic Plan for Tuberculosis Eradication 2017-2025 aims to eliminate Tuberculosis in the next 4 years. Have to end it completely.

Medical Stores, Diagnostic Labs, and Hospitals have been directed to keep records of all Tuberculosis patients and upload them on digital platforms to ensure documentation of Tuberculosis.

Dr. Mamta has stated that until now, only laboratories, hospitals, and doctors were reporting Tuberculosis patients to the government health system. And now every chemist will also inform about all the Tuberculosis patients for whom they have given Tuberculosis medicines.

All Tuberculosis patients are also encouraged to report themselves. Dr. Mamta said that we plan to reach out to every Tuberculosis patient so that communities, families, and patients are given proper encouragement and support.
