Take your pick: Nagpur University offers both online, offline exam mode
This decision has been taken after the marathon meeting of the BOEE of the university, Where the members have considered the pros and cons of conducting the examination in offline and online mode.
Nagpur: Bowing to the demand of students, the Nagpur University on Thursday made a complete U-turn on its stand of holding the upcoming summer examinations only in offline mode. Right now the exam will also be conducted online with the option of pen and paper format.
This decision has been taken after the marathon meeting of the BOEE of the university, Where the members have considered the pros and cons of conducting the examination in offline and online mode. The decision of the Board of Examinations and Evaluation to conduct the examination in a mixed format will be placed before the Academic and Management Councils for approval.
Board of Examinations and Evaluation (BoEE) Director Prafulla Sable has informed that they can start the final year examination in the middle of the month of May. Their first goal is to declare the result very soon so that all the students can apply for postgraduate admissions or jobs.
Question papers of the first phase were over
The practical exam will be conducted strictly in offline mode at the college level just like in the pre-covid years.
Sable has said that Promark will once again conduct the exam. There will be no change in the format of the Multiple Choice Questions at all. All students will have to solve the same paper almost like in the last two years – either on mobile or laptop or on their desktop. But winter exams will be conducted very strictly in offline format and they will start their preparation in the next several days. He has asked all the officials concerned to prepare the question paper for the next examination.
Apart from the protest by all the students, the Board of Examinations and Evaluation members also took good note of some other factors. In this, too much heat was involved in the Vidarbha region and the delay in starting the paper was also included. This summer exams usually start at the end of the month of February. In 2020, the examinations started on the date of 27 February. And on the date March 16, whenever covid came into the country, most of the question papers of their first phase were completely over. If still the paper is conducted in offline mode, then the exam will continue till the month of August, due to which there will be a lot of delay in the result and further admission. In Delhi too, with more than a thousand cases already registered in a day, the threat of coronavirus is also looming.
