Tenders worth Rs 165 crore issued for completion of smart city works

NSSCDCL CEO Chinmay Gotmare has also said the same that the earlier contract with Shapoorji Pallonji Company Private Limited (SPCPL) was completely canceled due to an inordinate delay in the work.

Nagpur: The Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Limited on Thursday issued tenders worth about Rs 165 crore to complete pending works of roads and bridges in the Bharatwada, Pardi, Punapur, and Bhandewadi areas of ​​East Nagpur under the Area Based Development of Smart City project.

On the date of October 10, 2018, SPCPL was incorporated by NSSCDCL. And the work order was issued to complete the TenderSURE project worth about Rs.650 crores.

In the last meeting of the NSSCDCL Board of Directors also, SPCPL was allowed to withdraw from the project and it was also decided to appoint a new contractor. Shapoorji Pallonji Company Private Limited, a Mumbai firm, the project consisting of 49.76 km of roads, 28 bridges and culverts, four elevated storage reservoirs, and associated civil works was abandoned mid-way citing lack of work front in the Area Based Development.

Pending works have been divided into about six packages

The completion date of the project was April 26, 2020 (which comes to approximately 565 days). However, work had also been done for 12.36 km of roads, 10 bridges, culverts, and four ESRS.

NSSCDCL now intends to complete all the remaining works of TenderSURE in about six months.

According to Gotmare, the pending works have been divided into about six packages, due to which they will be completed on time.

In the new tender process also, there are four packages of cement concrete roads (the first package is worth Rs 62.48 crore, the second Rs 33.38 crore, third Rs 14.75 crore and fourth Rs 21.77 crore). Along with this, the fifth package of Rs 22.23 crore is also related to the construction of bridges and the sixth package is of Rs 10.44 crore, which is for the completion of incomplete elevated storage reservoirs.

The tender process is likely to be completed by December 15.
