Let people tell you that the presence of the original breed XBB.1.16 in this area

Experts even believe that the strain is being called ‘the new kid of XBB.1.16’. It also has additional spike mutations, which may make it immune to immunity.

Let people tell you that the presence of the original breed XBB.1.16 in this area has further increased to 80%. And the lab headed by Dr Krishna Khairnar is also sequencing all Covid positive samples without screening for low Ct value as per the decision of the government. Also, a sample with low CT has high sensitivity and concentration of the virus.

The laboratory also found 56 samples forwarded by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) suitable for genome sequencing. Most interestingly, the Omicron sublineage BA.2 and its subvariants have now completely disappeared.

Youth and primary Covid infections are low at the moment

XBB.1.16 has been seen in 44 out of 56 Coronavirus positive samples, While XBBl.1.16.1 was at number two with 8 or 14%.

Each sample tested completely positive for XBB, XBB.2.3, XAM and XAR. And these mutations in the omicron sublineage are causing a surge in coronavirus cases, but so far they cause only mild disease.

According to doctors treating Coronavirus patients, so far only one cancer patient has needed oxygen support due to infection. “Youth and primary Covid infections are low at the moment. Most new patients have been vaccinated or have hybrid immunity from natural infection,” said a government medical college doctor.

The new strain XBB.1.16.1 only has an additional T5471 mutation compared to its parent strain. This is also the first mutation seen in the concern’s version XBB.1.16.
