Nagpur: Divisional commissioner Prajakta Lavangare-Verma on Sunday held a review meeting on coronavirus and asked civil and health officials to gear up for COVID testing of international air travelers arriving at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport.
There has also been a lot of emphasis on expediting the ongoing projects to set up oxygen plants and ensure maximum COVID vaccination coverage.
The meeting was organized in the backdrop of the emergence of a brand new version of covid ‘Omicron’ in South Africa and the global threat. State and central governments have also issued guidelines on this. Which the Divisional Commissioner has asked the administrative heads of these districts to follow well and be fully prepared to face the new challenge.
Covid Appropriate Practices
Prajakta has also asked the officials of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and the Nagpur district administration and the city’s civic body, to work out the modalities to initiate the screening of all passengers arriving on international flights. A source has also said that it has asked these officers to prepare a blueprint of the measures to be taken with all the passengers and to follow the protocol properly if any passenger tests covid positive. An official present in the meeting has also said that during the review meeting, most of the discussion revolved around international travelers, as the danger in this regard is mostly from them.
During the review meeting with the Collectors of Bhandara, Wardha, Nagpur, Gondia, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli, the Divisional Commissioner advised the Administrative Heads to follow the COVID Appropriate Practices (CAB) for proper use of masks and also maintaining social distancing. To take appropriate action to implement it. Lavangare-Verma has also underlined the fact that there was a lot of lethargy among the public in adhering to the norms of coronavirus. And the officials have also been asked to intensify the enforcement measures and increase the number of tests for covid per day.
Divisional Commissioner has also asked all these officers to ensure the operational fitness of the existing medical oxygen plant and the stock of oxygen in the cylinders present in the district headquarters. And it has asked all the stocks to be reviewed and given an assurance that they are fully prepared to deal with any emergency due to the boom in international affairs.
