Start collecting data immediately to maintain OBC quota: Patole to CM

Nagpur: After the Government of Maharashtra was directed by Supreme Court to conduct a triple test for granting OBC reservation in local bodies, collection of their empirical data, On Wednesday, the Congress party has appealed to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to do the work immediately.

MPCC President Nana Patole has requested Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to take the initiative himself and also ensure that all the facilities required by the Backward Classes Commission are provided so that the data collection exercise starts very soon.

Newly-elected MLC Chandrashekhar Bawankule, however, criticized the MVA government for “sitting idle” for the past 10 months, And he has also claimed that the empirical data sought by the apex court can be prepared within a month.

Councils also require a quorum of about 17 members to elect a president. Similarly, in Zilla Parishad also about 50 members are required for this.

He also said that the MVA ordinance had secured around 85% seats for OBCs in local body elections, But the top court had completely rejected it. And it has also been said that we know who is behind this and who is sponsoring their lawyers and tickets. Expose it at the right time. Whenever the OBC quota is running in other states, then why this injustice to Maharashtra? The opposition leaders are behind all this and the OBC community will teach them a lesson.

MPCC President Nana has said that the Congress party has always supported OBC reservation and also wants to maintain it. CM should also put all the machinery to work on this issue immediately. The issue of OBC reservation has become complicated due to the stand taken by BJP and Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis even as CM. If the data from the central government was wrong, then why did Fadnavis and the then minister Pankaja Munde write a letter to the Modi government asking for the same data?
