New Delhi, Dec 3 (IANS) Congress General Secretary (Organisation) K.C. Venugopal on Wednesday said that the INDIA bloc in Jharkhand remains “rock-solid and cohesive”, dismissing what he described as politically motivated rumours regarding strains within the ruling coalition. His remarks came after a telephonic conversation with Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
In a post on X, Venugopal said he had spoken to Hemant Soren and asserted that there should be “no doubts” about the stability of the alliance in the state.
“Let there be no doubts — our INDIA alliance in Jharkhand is rock-solid, cohesive, and fully committed to advancing people-centric welfare policies that reflect the aspirations of every citizen of Jharkhand,” the senior Congress leader wrote on X.
He also criticised what he termed “malicious narrative and coordinated rumour mongering” by ‘right-wing groups’, calling it an attempt to create confusion about Jharkhand’s political situation.
“The malicious narrative and coordinated rumour mongering being propagated by right-wing troll networks are but signs of their growing desperation and political insecurity. We are not affected by such cheap trolling, and they can never dilute the trust that the people have placed in us,” Venugopal said.
He added that the alliance partners remained united with a clear sense of purpose. “Our unity is intact, our purpose is clear, and our alliance remains stronger than ever,” he stated.
The INDIA bloc, comprising the JMM, Congress and RJD in Jharkhand, governs the state with Hemant Soren as Chief Minister.
Venugopal’s remarks were aimed at countering ongoing speculation on social media about alleged differences within the coalition.
His comments also underline the Congress leadership’s effort to publicly reinforce the stability of the alliance ahead of the upcoming political calendar in the state.
Political analysts said that the JMM and Congress have repeatedly maintained coordination over key matters in Jharkhand, and Wednesday’s message from Venugopal is intended to signal continuity in that partnership.
Though CM Hemant Soren has not issued a separate statement on the conversation, the Congress leader’s post is being viewed as the official stance of the grand old party on the matter.
The INDIA alliance in Jharkhand has been in power since 2019. Venugopal’s message reiterates the coalition’s stand that social media speculation has no bearing on the functioning of the state government or on relations between its partners.
