Admission Ban Lifted From 20 Colleges

Nagpur University has lifted its ban on first-year postgraduate admissions for 20 colleges, by acting upon the judiciary’s directives. But this lift on ban comes with a rider; the deputy registrar NU has asked the principals of the college to complete the admissions by Friday because it is the last day for the processing of the admissions. The notification has also asked the principals to appoint a full-time teacher within two months. The registrar further said that the full-time teacher would carry out the main workload and For the remaining one, contributory teachers will be permitted by the university. The colleges will complete 90/180 teaching days as per rules failing which the NU will debar students from appearing in examinations,”

A notification which says; “The admissions to PG courses of the petitioner colleges stand de-frozen from the date of Nagpur bench of Bombay high ‘court’s judgment of August 26. But, the NU is at liberty to verify the entire process as per rules,” the notification stated.” Has to be displayed on the bulletin boards as well as the official website as; NU has appealed to the colleges. The notification also states that the Principals have to submit an undertaking to comply with the conditions that are mentioned above on a 10o rupees stamp paper.

According to NU Popular colleges like Shivaji Science, Dhanwate National (DNC), Dharampeth, Dr Umathe, Samarth, Arun Motghare, MB Patel and others have benefited from the lifting of the ban. Despite the fact that students form a beeline to take admissions in these colleges, none of them has a single teacher. One hundred thirty-two colleges, including the mentioned above in June, were barred by the NU for the admissions in the first year of PG courses because they ‘couldn’t appoint a single regular teacher despite notices and reminders.

Then these colleges had challenged the ‘NU’s ban in the high court, which further granted them the liberty to appoint one approved PG teacher along with other teachers depending on the student strength.
