Academics demand retrospective restoration of midday meals

Nagpur: As the schools for classes I-XII have once again reopened, The people eligible for midday meals are expecting that the distribution of food grains will resume very soon, And they too with retrospective effect.

A principal, speaking on the condition of anonymity, has said that schools are caught between parents and the education department over everything. The midday meals stock has not arrived at all since the month of August. And some parents even feel that the school has grabbed the stock.

District Nagpur mid-day meal in-charge Gautam Gedam has confirmed that the appointment with the help of tender is pending. Gaidam has said that I have also asked my senior officials from Mumbai about this. It also appears that tenders are still pending for the vendors. A regular supply of food grains will also start as soon as the tender is received. At present, which is under the centralized kitchen scheme of the school, They are getting rice too. But pulses are not available at all. And even those who have a kitchen in their house are not getting it.

Government Takes Some Steps

The principals say that the time has come for the government to take several steps in this regard. The principal of an aided school in this city has also said that I am shocked by the slowness of the administration. If it knows that a tender is about to expire, so the process of issuing a new one should start months before.

Along with this, teachers are also worried that if food grains are not given retrospectively. Then it will create a lot of problems for them. A senior teacher has said that it is we who implement this scheme at the grassroots level. If anything goes wrong, then the administration as well as the parents don’t even bother us to find out whose fault it really is.
