After NMC demolishes meat shops, builder and others encroach on part of NMC land

Nagpur: A part of the civic body’s land has been usurped by a builder as a result of the very careless attitude of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation. Which he had taken over a few months ago after demolishing eight meat shops. NMC has barricaded only a part of this land.

The representative of a builder has also said that permission to use the land located in Omkar Nagar has been sought and the Nagpur Municipal Corporation has not given it at all. The officials of Hanuman Nagar circle have turned a blind eye to this encroachment.

After TOI’s report dated June 29, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation demolished the encroachments made by the meat shops. And the body chief Radhakrishnan had also ordered that the land be fenced. It has completely failed to protect the adjacent side of the plot owned by Gandhi Builders.

Sanjay Band of Gandhi Builders said, “We will stop using the land after completing our work.”

Encroachment can also be seen in the remaining part of the strip

Gandhi Builders is also constructing a commercial-cum-residential building on its plot. It has also got access to NMC land as the civic body has completely failed to demarcate the properties. The builder has also been dumping the soil from his plot on the land owned by NMC for almost a month.

NMC officials have also said that no permission has been given to the builder to use the land in any way and appropriate action will be taken. “We are in the process of demarcating the land acquired and owned by the state government from Omkar Nagar intersection to Shatabdi intersection,” they said.

The Sanjay Band also said that six more plot owners have encroached on NMC land.

The land of NMC is said to be about 10 feet from the end of the footpath. Encroachment can also be seen in the remaining part of the strip even before Shatabdi Chowk.
