Conspiracy to implicate 17 MLAs by offering ministerial post

Niraj Singh Rathod, arrested from Ahmedabad by a Nagpur police crime team, was produced before a court here on Thursday. He has been sent to the custody of the Crime Branch till May 22.

Nagpur: It is being reported that Niraj Singh Rathod, who studied till class XII, was in the process of extorting crores of rupees from the members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) as Personal Assistant (PA) of a senior BJP leader of national level. Call details also reveal that Rathod had contacted at least 17 MLAs from different parts of India and he was also promised a ministerial post with the recommendation of a senior leader.

Rathod, a tile mason who started his career as a helper, was exposed by BJP MLA Vikas Kumbhare, to which he was repeatedly demanding ₹ 1.67 crores while promising a cabinet berth as Rural Development Minister. Kumbhare had been asked to pay the amount as a contribution to help an Assamese leader, who was not at all financially strong, win the election.

Please tell that Niraj Singh Rathod had also called another BJP MLA from Nagpur. And had asked him to contribute to the food system during the meeting of the National Party.

City police chief Amitesh Kumar sent a crime branch team to Ahmedabad to arrest Rathod after his call record analysis.

“Niraj Singh Rathod spoke to the MLAs several times through another person, who identified himself as a senior BJP leader. It could be someone else posing as a senior leader or Niraj Singh Rathod impersonating the leader himself,” said the CP adding that deeper questioning was yet to come.

Niraj Singh Rathod used to collect the amount paid by the MLAs to him in the money app of a nearby mobile phone user. Rathod got an air ticket to Delhi sponsored by some politicians from Kerala.
