As the city gear up for the new mayor in Nagpur, we hear that the Senior BJP Corporator Mr. Sandeep Joshi would be the new mayor of the city. He will be the 53rd mayor in Nagpur. In the current 149 member list in the NMC, 106 belong to the BJP and Shiv Sena, while the Congress and NCP hold around 33 of them. Hence considering the majority of BJP and SS it was an obvious choice to see the BJP corporator as its Mayor in the city. The announcement was likely to be made official today in the first half.
However, the current set up or adjustments made by the BJP and Shiv Sena would have a mayor from the BJP and the Shiv Sena on a 50-50 formula. That’s not all, even the Deputy Mayor of the city would have a similar adjustment in the 53rd body of the NMC. This has been done in the backdrop of the current crisis going in between the two parties at the state politics. The Congress, NCP and BSP have their people in minority and hence they would remain out of power for obvious reasons.
Well, talking about the names of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of the city in the next 2.5 years of terms, these would be declared at the later stage thus allowing the power to remain in the right shape in the city politics.
