Graduation Election Fiasco: Contestants, statutory members of Nagpur University want vice-chancellor’s resignation
Then those demanding resignations have also said that this is completely unprecedented in the history of the university.
Nagpur: A day after Nagpur University (NU) deferred the election to the undergraduate constituency for the third time, Competitors and members of the statutory body have also demanded the immediate resignation of Vice-Chancellor Subhash Chaudhari and Pro-VC Sanjay Dudhe over the blunders that tarnished the reputation of Nagpur University in its centenary year.
Then those demanding resignations have also said that this is completely unprecedented in the history of the university. He blamed the ‘dictatorial attitude’ of the VC for this. He says that even after repeatedly facing the wrath of the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court, he has failed to learn.
He has also questioned why Chancellor Bhagat Singh Koshyari is not taking action against the VC and Pro-VC despite several complaints from Senate members. He has been exposed by TOI for illegal roping in MKCL for examination works.
When asked to comment on these cases, Chaudhari told TOI, “All cases are being handled in a fair and legal manner.”
Chaudhari also asked the VC to take moral responsibility for the mistakes, Senior Senate member Manmohan Bajpayee, who for the first time raised serious objections to the electoral roll, and was one of the counsels for the petitioners, Chaudhary said and the team had also brought disrepute to the university by their questionable actions and behavior.
HC forced Chaudhari to tender an unconditional apology
“We tried our best to warn the NU administration about the consequences, but the arrogance of Chaudhari and Dudhe prevented them from rectifying the blunders. Instead, they tried to suppress their mistakes by trying to adapt the laws to themselves. The Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court has rightly taken a jibe at the Vice Chancellor,” he told TOI.
Mohan Kashikar, former head of the Nagpur University Political Science department, had also demanded the resignation of the VC following the latest HC orders. “Never in history has a VC faced such repeated blowbacks from the judiciary,” he told TOI. His views were also supported by one of the petitioners, Prashant Dekate, who is also contesting the election.
In Kashikar’s case, the HC forced Chaudhari to tender an unconditional apology and submit in writing that he would absolutely not commit the same mistake again. The former had also moved the HC after Chaudhari was removed from the charge of HoD allegedly out of personal vendetta.
