School student died due to brake failure of bus

Nagpur: A 14-year-old boy was hit by a vehicle outside the school in Khairi on Tuesday after the brakes of the school bus failed. He died due to very serious injuries in his head and leg. This has been revealed in the preliminary investigation done by the Koradi police. The Regional Transport Office has also started the process of suspending the driving license and bus permit of the school bus driver.

Krushna Shinde, the senior police inspector at Koradi police station, told TOI that after the accident, when police tried to take the bus to the police station, Then they also realized that its brake had failed. “Because of this we even had to use a crane to pull the bus to the police station,” They said.

Krushna Shinde has also said that the police have approached the Regional Transport Office to inspect the bus involved in the accident, in which not only the boy died. Rather, two two-wheelers, a school van, and a car have also been hit. The police have also summoned the owner of the school bus, who is a resident of the Bhandara district.

In collaboration with the Transport Department, the documents of the bus like compulsory fitness certificate, permit, insurance, etc. are being checked.

Flying squad of RTO checked many school buses on Wednesday

Officiating RTO (Nagpur city) Ravindra Bhuyar also said that the department has already started an investigation into the school bus accident. In Samyak Kalambe, a Class VIII student of Mary Possepins Academy died on Tuesday. Ravindra Bhuyar also said that the driver, Ambadas Ramteke, had a valid driving license. The RTO on Wednesday issued a show cause notice for suspending the bus permit and driver’s license. They said.

“Action under the Motor Vehicles Act will be initiated against the driver and the bus owner after completing the due process,” Ravindra Bhuyar said.

Preliminary examination of the video of the accident also revealed that despite seeing the bus coming, the two-wheeler, parents, and even children still stood in its way.

Meanwhile, the flying squad of RTO checked many school buses on Wednesday. And has also visited many schools to ensure that the vehicles carrying the children are following the law. “RTO has taken action against 33 vehicle owners and 10 vehicles have also been impounded,” Bhuyar said.
