Nagpur: On the date of January 17, three women involved in a strip show in Brahmni village of Umred taluka of district Nagpur were questioned by Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Pooja Gaikwad on Sunday. The police of Nagpur Rural have so far arrested about 11 people, In which three male dancers from Brahmni and so many organizers are also included.
The police have also selected the Alex Julie dance group, Who had performed in this event. After arresting three male dancers, including the leader of the group, identified as Alex, the rural police are yet to trace the women, Who was seen dancing in the video and taking off the clothes.
Video clips of the strip show on the pretext of a cultural concert as part of the celebrations after the bullock cart race had gone viral, Due to which very strict action was taken by the police at some places. Apart from Brahmni, there were also strong rumors of similar dance shows taking place in three villages of Kuhi. But the police have not found any evidence of any kind so far.
Dance shows not unusual in rural areas
Sub-divisional police officer Pooja, the investigating officer heading the special investigation team set up to probe the strip showcase, has said that The women have been interrogated and sent back as they cannot be taken back after sunset as per the rules.
He has said that he will question the women in detail and then decide whether to arrest them or not.
The police have also said that such dance shows are not at all unusual in rural areas. A cop also said that they are known differently in different areas like ‘Mandai’. There is also a program of merry-making known as recording dance. Where villagers enjoy playing music on their sound system, Then there are feasts after that.
The police are also yet to ascertain whether the dance group had conducted similar strip shows elsewhere in the district.
