Police remove polluting firecrackers worth Rs 4 lakh from market
23 offenses were registered in different police stations against cracker traders and many other citizens for blatantly violating all norms of firecrackers.
Nagpur: For the first time, taking action against illegal firecrackers inside the city. The city police have seized material worth about Rs 4 lakh in the last week between Diwali and Dhanteras. The city police had allowed the purchase, bursting, and sale of only green firecrackers. Between 8 pm and 10 pm during the festival of Diwali.
Around 23 offenses were registered in different police stations against cracker traders. And many other citizens for blatantly violating all norms of firecrackers.
Within 2 days, the police control room of the city had received about 44 calls related to these firecrackers. Out of which callers shared complaints about many issues. These included disputes over the bursting, sale, and noise of banned firecrackers. And violation of time limits.
The city police, which only allowed the bursting. And sale of green firecrackers. The local police have proceeded to enforce the rules at multiple levels. Including the stations, special squads, and crime branch.
CP Amitesh Kumar issued 1 notification under the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). In which any type of firecrackers without ‘Green Label’ were banned. And then he was allowed to burst firecrackers only between 8 pm and 10 pm.
Frequent meetings with stakeholders
He has said that “We have had frequent meetings with the stakeholders. In which he was made aware about the guidelines received by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) and the Supreme Court about green crackers. All norms of restricted decibels and the norms of time met. Our stand regarding action on this was very clear. The person who did not follow the rules at all, then that person has to face action.”
The top police officer has also said that the commando beat marshal was taken to any place from where the citizens alerted the city police. On firecracker related issues with the help of 112 emergency numbers. “The quick response and timely intervention also helped the city police. To avoid many untoward incidents related to these firecrackers.”
He has also said that many police vehicles were sent on patrol. And then asked to be very vigilant regarding the sale, storage. And bursting of firecrackers in violation of the time limit. The CP Amitesh Kumar has also said that different teams of Zonal and Crime DCP and Assistant CP were also keeping a good watch on it.
