Raut-Thakre meeting fuels rumors in Cong

Nagpur: The meeting between the MLA Vikas Thakre and Guardian Minister Nitin Raut on Sunday in the faction-bound district Nagpur Congress has also fueled the rumors of many leniency in the estrangement. As far as the optics of politics is concerned, then this meeting can also be a positive sign, But sources say that it is too early to read much in this.
Vikas, who is also the city Congress president, has said that the cabinet minister (Raut) has paid a courtesy visit to his house in Nagpur today. All these meetings are not at all political in nature. He was unwell a few weeks back and Raut could not go to Mumbai due to his prior engagements, and because of this he came home.
Vikas, a dependent of former MP Vilas Muttemwar, has not always been on the same page with Raut. The tussle between these two remains an open secret. And because of this, in Sunday’s meeting, there is a discussion on the WhatsApp groups of many grassroot level Congress workers.
Sources say that it was the two leaders who discussed the elections to the civic body. Which may be delayed mainly due to OBC reservation controversy. The root of this controversy is to give tickets to the candidates of the elections. Especially in all those areas where there is overlap of influence of the two leaders.
Political debut in the civic polls
Sharing pictures of the meeting on the page of his social media platform, Raut said that mainly three things were discussed. In a public statement, Raut said discussions have been held on digital membership drive, upcoming civic polls and party campaigns.
Recently the sons of these two leaders have performed very well in the Maharashtra Youth Congress elections, Kunal Raut has just become a representative for the state president, While Ketan Thakre has been elected as the General Secretary. Some say that this was also discussed between these two.
Vikas’s sons are preparing well for a political debut in the civic polls by seeking a ticket from their father’s ground. Vikas has said that this is what the citizens of that ward are demanding, but they will see what happens after all. He (Ketan) has been working in his constituency for a long time.
