Anti-incumbency will help Congress win NMC elections: Tanaji Wanve

Tanaji Wanve also hoped that the Congress party would return to power in the Nagpur Municipal Corporation after nearly 15 years due to the anti-incumbency wave.

Nagpur: Leader of the Opposition Tanaji Wanve on Thursday accused the BJP-ruled Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) of ignoring development works in divisions represented by Congress councilors.

Tanaji Wanve also hoped that the Congress party would return to power in the Nagpur Municipal Corporation after nearly 15 years due to the anti-incumbency wave.

Even claiming that he has been given meager money even after facing some difficulties, Senior Congress corporators have also said that whatever money they got was due to their two corporators in the 13-member standing committee.

He has also said that North Nagpur MLA and guardian minister Nitin Raut has ensured development works to about 30 Congress councilors, including a co-opted member, from state government funds.

It has also said that Nitin Raut has provided between Rs 30 lakh to Rs 60 lakh to each corporator for improving civic amenities, including construction or refurbishment of roads.

Refuting the fact of joining BJP, he has also said that, His father was a Congressman. He also joined the party as a member of Bal Seva Dal and was also actively associated with Youth Congress. He is also a member of Maharashtra INTUC and General Secretary in Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee.

Increase its strength in next civic polls

However, the Congress leader refused to comment on his equation with Congress city president Vikas Thakre.

He has also termed senior BJP councilor Dayashankar Tiwari as one of the fair mayors.

He has said that Dayashankar Tiwari has also provided money to all these Congress councilors from the mayor’s fund. He has not received a single penny from the previous mayors including Sandip Joshi and Nanda Jichkar.

Tanaji Wanve has also said that the joining of Former deputy mayor Satish Holey and BJP corporators Ravindra Bhoyar will certainly go a long way in helping the party increase its strength in the next civic polls.

According to him, all the working workers of the Congress party should also get a chance to contest the elections. He has also said that the state chief will decide on the alliance with Nationalist Congress Party and Shiv Sena.
