NMC earmarks Rs 60.64 lakh to tackle possible third Covid wave

Nagpur: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is leaving no stone unturned to protect the citizens by strengthening the medical facilities within the limits of the Corporation in view of the possibility of the dreaded third wave of the coronavirus pandemic.

As part of these efforts, Nagpur Municipal Corporation is all set to spend around Rs.60.64 lakh for the installation of generators for the oxygen plant and air-conditioning system in paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) and neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) in the new administrative building campus of Jamnalal Bajaj, Nagpur University.

This decision has been taken only on the advice of experts. Those who have said that during this third phase, any children who have not been vaccinated against covid so far, those children can also be affected.

Panel to allow the department to be taken out

Along with this, the civil administration has placed both the proposals before the Standing Committee, Whose meeting is to be held on the date of 28 December.

According to the proposals prepared by the Electricity Department, Nagpur Municipal Corporation will spend about Rs 32.52 lakh on installing the generator for the oxygen plant set up in the university campus. And similarly, it has been proposed to spend about Rs 28.12 lakh for the installation of an air conditioning system in paediatric intensive care unit and neonatal intensive care unit.

It has also urged the panel to allow the department to carry out both the works by inviting short tender notices.

The Nagpur Municipal Corporation has also already taken over the new administrative building of the University for the same purpose. And has also set up a 30-bed ICU, 20-bed neonatal intensive care unit, and 150 oxygen points.
