11 MBBS Students Covid-19 Test Positive, 100 Students Quarantined
Some covid-19 infected MBBS Students first complained For fever, while the rest of the students are completely asymptomatic.
Nagpur: It has been reported that boys and girls, who are studying MBBS first year in Datta Meghe Medical of Wanadongri College, have tested positive together on Monday, out of which ten are girls and one is boy.
Dean Dr Dilip Goode informed that all around 150 first year MBBS students were vaccinated against Covid with both doses from February to March by the college under Healthcare worker (HCW) category. This is the first MBBS batch of our college.
Students first Complained For Fever
Some covid-19 infected MBBS Students first complained For fever, while the rest of the students are completely asymptomatic. Dr. Goode also told that all are doing very well and they do not have any major health problems due to covid vaccination. “Their SPO2 level remains up to 98%,” he said .
Dr Gode has also said that all the infected students have been admitted to an isolated ward. The college has also informed the parents of all the students and now they have been counselled.
100 Students Live in the Hostels
Along with the infected, more than 100 students live in the hostels of the campus. The college will conduct RT-PCR test for all of them on Wednesday. Rest 50 are from the city and the rest have been asked for home isolation and covid testing. The dean has also said that the rest of the dorms are in hostel rooms and doctors are examining them all.
The Dean has told that covid contact tracing has started but it is very difficult to say from where these students have been infected.
Sources revealed that this could be the first of the possible sources of infection from covid, eating food ordered from outside and students celebrating birthdays in hostels.
Dean has also pointed out and said that this was the first time that the classes of all the students were reopened once in the month of June and after that any student has tested positive.
All numbers in Tuesday’s data will be reported by the Nagpur Civil Surgeon’s office. Some senior district officials have reported that the sudden spike is likely to increase the daily cases to close to 20 at the end of the day.
