94% in Chandrapur believe pollution is taking toll on health: Study

Chandrapur: Pollution has reached a very dangerous level in the Chandrapur district. And it has also adversely affected the health of the district people. About 94.2% of citizens believe it has responded to a sample survey conducted by a group of environmentalists and practitioners.
While about 75.1% of people attributed their illness to this high pollution, About 60% of citizens also feel that they are irritated by high air and noise pollution, Due to which there is a lack of attention to work, sparks of anger, early exhaustion, sleeplessness, and headaches keep happening.
Dr. Yogeshwar Dudhpachare, Environmentalist, along with medical practitioner Dr. Saurav Rajurkar and Dr. Ashok Wasalwar, online survey was conducted with the help of 22-point questionnaire to understand the effects of pollution, especially air pollution, on people’s health.
Dr. Ashok Wasalwar has stated that the survey has received responses from around 430 individuals. And about 64% of them feel that their life span has been shortened by several years due to pollution. And said that even people who do not smoke, their lungs in Chandrapur have the effect of smoking about 10 cigarettes a day.
Pollution is responsible for high cases
Recurrent sneezing, cold, and runny nose account for about 77 percent. Contracting a disease due to high water pollution is also a matter of concern for about 83% of the respondents. 69% of citizens also believe that investing in real estate will yield negative returns. And in fact, about 70% have even agreed to leave the district Chandrapur elsewhere for better opportunities.
Dr. Saurabh Rajurkar, Pulmonologist, has also said that high pollution is responsible for high cases of respiratory disorders and heart and lung diseases in children as well as adults. The number of patients with asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is high. And the number of patients with heart failure is also increasing. And said that in Chandrapur district also, the number of asthma or some allergies related to pollution is very high in children from newborn to 12 years.
Dr. Yogeshwar has also claimed that he is going to publish a research paper based on the results of the survey and will also inform the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board, the state government, public representatives, about his own analytical findings.
