City Mayor Calls her 1st local steering committee meeting
We know Nanda Jichkar as our city Mayor. Just before the elections, when we saw her and her team returning the official vehicles on the wake of elections, we now see her back in action. The City mayor has now called her first meeting of a local steering committee, which was held on Tuesday at the office of Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Develop Corporation Limited. During the meeting, the decision was taken about the AFD which will further appoint the international consulting agency to chalk out a plan for the transition of municipal diesel buses to the electric buses, which is to come on a phase-wise.
This has remained the most ambitious project of the city and would be carried out under the initiative called Mobilise Your City initiatives. It was decided in the meeting that the local steering committee would have Dr Ramnath Sonwane, CEO of NSSCDCL, Dinkar Manwar, RTO, and Sunil Gujjalwar, Chief Engineer of NIT were present at the meeting. While addressing the meeting the mayor shared the idea asking the MYC to conduct the study for the transition of diesel buses.
She then informed that the Union Government has launched one initiative that deals in reducing the carbon emissions in the growing cities that come with the advent of electric buses. She as also seen directing about collecting the data on carbon emissions from different vehicles that fall under MYC. The data will update the citizens about the carbon emission that come along the vehicles. Stay tuned to know more about it and others only with us.
