The postal department had always played a big role in connecting people from one place to the other. However, with the advent of the internet, things changed a lot and the way the postal department had played the role earlier seemed to have less usage. Considering the less usage of postal services, the department has always kept its presence felt in society. They have been celebrating and observing different events in the city to make their presence felt.
Recently, during the eve of The World Post Day, the city postal department had witnessed a National Postal Week in Nagpur. It was organized by Universal Postal Union’s which has been in place since 1874. The week is currently celebrated in the city from 9th October 2019 every year and would last till 15th October. On this eve, Mr. Ramchandra Jayabhaye, the Postmaster-General, Nagpur Region (GPO), addressed a press conference at the Rajhans Hall at the GPO premises.
The key objective of the week is to create awareness about the role of post offices in the social-economic development. While addressing the press conference, he introduced as to why the World Post Day is celebrated all across the world. He informed us that the week will have different days celebrated with different departments, which include the Banking Day on Thursday, Friday as PLI Day and Philately Day on Saturday. However, Monday would be celebrated as Business Development Day and the last day Tuesday of this week would be celebrated as Mails Day. Stay tuned to know more on it and others only with us.
