Dogs beat up 11-year-old girl, parents asked for Rs 6 lakh for treatment
Amidst the debate on whether the attacking dog is stray or wild, very poor parents have started a campaign to raise around Rs 6 lakh for the treatment.
Nagpur: 11-year-old Hansika Gajbhiye had lost her life several days ago after being brutally attacked by a herd of dogs in a field near Ramtek. Hansika Gajbhiye was taken to a private hospital in the city on March 24 where she was kept on a ventilator for two days.
Amidst the debate on whether the attacking dog is stray or wild, very poor parents have started a campaign to raise around Rs 6 lakh for the treatment. If it turns out to be a wild animal attack, Then the victim will also get financial compensation from the Forest Department.
The victim’s father Sunil, a farm laborer, had left her alone in the field to fetch drinking water from home. When these stray dogs suddenly attacked the victim, The victim’s right ear pinna was torn off, A portion of skin was coming out of his skull, as well as flesh and blood coming out of his limbs and torso.
Then the victim was also operated on twice to close her wounds and her condition was stable on Monday evening.
Hansika Gajbhiye parents took the very badly injured girl to the local Primary Health Center (PHC), The one who allegedly refused to treat him in view of his appalling condition. Then the victim’s terrified parents took her to a local private hospital, which brought her to the city hospital.
No wild dogs in this area
Then the bill of that hospital has reached about 1.5 lakh rupees. She will need at least 10 more days to recover in the hospital, Which is likely to take the final bill to around Rs 6 lakh.
Dr Santosh Dakhane, the medical administrator of Radhakrishna Hospital, has said that the girl had sustained multiple injuries. The victim needed two surgeries to reconstruct the skin and ears of the girl’s skull. Its organs also require a great deal of stitching and amputation of wounds at some points. That girl may also need plastic surgery. In the injured condition the girl, was dragged in the mud.
The girl’s parents and local people claim that it was an attack by wild and stray dogs. Ramtek range forest officer Sanjay Mohod has also said that prima facie it appears that the attack was carried out by wild dogs.
Sanjay Mohod has said that a Gol official had visited the village and showed him pictures of stray dogs. Villagers have said that the attacking herd was similar to that of domesticated dogs. According to their records, there are no wild dogs in this area at all. Wild and stray dogs shy away from the presence of humans. Wild boars and leopards are not seen near the fields but in the forest.
