The district president of the Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana Manish Jadhav and his supporters had also given a representation to chief minister Eknath Shinde and his deputy Devendra Fadnavis on Friday and attracted their attention to their grievances.

Yavatmal: Various farmer organizations of the district have demanded uninterrupted power supply and effective measures to save their lives and agricultural produce from wildlife.

The district president of the Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana Manish Jadhav and his supporters had also given a representation to chief minister Eknath Shinde and his deputy Devendra Fadnavis on Friday and attracted their attention to their grievances.

He also demanded uninterrupted power supply to farms, immediate repair and replacement of faulty transformers, Bbn on extortion of electricity bills, single phase supply to farms during night, and approval of connections to all pending applicants.

The organization has also warned that if the government does not accept their legitimate demands at all, then the agitation will be intensified.

Though the forest department pays compensation for crop damage

Yavatmal has the unique feature of having two wildlife sanctuaries – Tipeshwar in the Ghatanji-Pandharkawda forest belt and Painganga wildlife sanctuary in the Umarkhed-Mahagaon forest belt. Along with this, both these sanctuaries are also natural habitats for various animals including tigers. And while carnivores often enter human habitations leading to man-animal conflict, and resulting in casualties, herbivores also completely destroy crops from forests.

Meanwhile, Hari Vijay Rathod, a farmer from Ghatanji, has also narrated how he has to endure regular attacks from wild animals. “My farm is situated on the edge of Tipeshwar Sanctuary and wild animals often enter the farm and destroy the crops,” Hari Vijay Rathore said.

“Though the forest department pays compensation for crop damage, the loss is huge and cannot be fully compensated. Also, in every season, people whose farms are close to the sanctuaries suffer losses.” He said and demanded a permanent solution to prevent attacks. He has also suggested using the ‘Bio-acoustic machine’ (Kheti Rakshak KR-18) as effective and useful. This machine can also be run with solar energy and electricity.
