Nagpur: To counter the propaganda network of Maoists, the Gadchiroli Police has started an effort to expose them by labeling them as ‘Gadchiroli Files’ through comic strips. On Thursday, the first strip has been released in English and Marathi apart from the local tribal language Gondi.
The ‘Gadchiroli Files’, perhaps the first comic strip launched by the police, will be used as a medium to publicize various ideas revolving around the ground realities of the tribal-dominated district. Although counter-productive and destructive Maoist violence was also a very early topic. In the very first strip, a Maoist is shown approaching a school student, who is trying too hard to entice him to join the rebel movement, Which is a reality in some remote parts of this district.
The comic strip depicts angry rebels setting fire to the district’s council school and hurling a grenade after the student rejects the offer. The Maoists are shown laughing out loud applauding these movements with ‘Lal Salaam’, their signature way of greeting each other.
Sees as effective messengers
The Maoists also have secret units like ‘Bal Sangam’, including minors, Whom he sees as effective messengers apart from future recruits, the senior police officer says.
