The problem of traffic has become more serious in the last few years due to the huge increase in the number of vehicles and poor traffic policing. As per the study, a maximum number of traffic jam spots had been identified under the Kempty traffic zone. Here about seven such stretches have been identified by the traffic police and after that five cases, each have been registered under Sadar and Cotton Bazar zones.

Similarly, around three stretches under Sitabuldi, Lakadganj, and Ajni zones were earmarked for witnessing frequent traffic jams. The MIDC zone has two jam-hit points, while Indora and Sakkardara zones also have one such spot. The most interesting thing is that there is no such spot in the Sonegaon zone.

Top police officer also assured of a holistic approach

Although the drivers also say that such a number is very high. He also said that apart from this ongoing infrastructure work, poor policing should be held responsible for the traffic mess.

TOI has been consistently highlighting the fact that extremely poor traffic management has increased travel time across the city. Even on the slightest altercation, the cases of road rage are also increasing.

After a recent news article in TOI that Nagpur road accident is almost 5 times more than murders, Commissioner of Police (Nagpur City) Amitesh Kumar also visited Ajni Square and Munje Square on Monday. In a media interaction held recently, the top police officer also assured of a holistic approach to resolve the issues including substantial strengthening of manpower. TOI tried to get in touch with Kumar about the study done by the traffic police, but he was not available at all.
