After several rounds of negotiations and even a court petition by some villages, the villagers have finally received compensation more than five times the original valuation of their land. Many villagers have also had to prove that their area does not have any facilities of urban areas at all. A part of the area has been marked as a metro area. However, there is also a provision for additional payment on five times basis only for rural land.

The state government has also started with the proposal of land pooling. Under this scheme, the persons whose land had been acquired were to get periodic annuities for up to 10 years. The farmers completely rejected the scheme. And after this, the government has offered to buy the land directly at double the price of the original valuation received from the transactions of the last almost three years.

Many villagers have agreed but more than 40 people from different villages in the Nagpur district have filed a petition in the court. And two-three hearings were also held, but before the decision of the court, the government has come up with an offer of five times the price. Everyone has agreed to the same, said sources involved in the process.

MSRDC organized series of consultation sessions on very good investments

Sources have also said that the acquisition started from Datala, Wadgaon, and Sukhli villages of Wardha Road. Sources have also said that there are areas like Sukhli village where almost every person whose land was taken away got at least one crore rupees. And even after that MSRDC organized a series of consultation sessions on very good investments. The villagers have also been told that instead of spending the money, they should buy land with the money they get.

Kawdu Bhoyar of Sukhli village, who got around Rs 5.5 crore, also said that he was earlier offered a land pooling scheme. In about a year, he could hardly get Rs 10,000 per acre. We didn’t agree at all. Then came the proposal of compensation twice, on which some people agreed. However, I was one of the 40 who went to court. Barely one or two hearings took place and the government announced compensation five times, They said adding that In Sukhli, the land of about 25 people was captured.

A source has also said that villagers in other districts have also shown similar protests till the compensation was announced five times.
