NCP and Congress are in power
The High Court of Mumbai had also banned reservation in jobs. But the reservation in education was also allowed to continue. The previous BJP government did not bring an ordinance in both the houses at all. And the ordinance depriving Muslims of reservation has been acquitted.
Bharatiya Muslim Parishad President Javed Pasha has said that the ruling Congress and NCP had promised to give reservation to backward Muslims if they came to power. And even CM Uddhav Thackeray had assured to consider the demand during the month of protest march held during last winter’s session.
Now that the NCP and the Congress are in power, it is absolutely imperative for them to give reservation to the backward Muslims as provided during their previous regimes.
