Nagpur Police Registers FIR Against Repubilc TV Chief
Arnab Goswami needs no introduction. He has worked with various top TV channels as the chief anchor and chief editor and now he holds a top position in his channel Republic TV. However, he has remained controversial for his vocal and tough words in the media debates leading to many issues that tend to bring in the legal implications. The City Police have registered an FIR against the anchor for his provocative remarks on a particular community with his recent TV debates.
In the meantime, Goswami was seen airing a video where he alleged a Youth Congress Men attacked him when he along with his wife was returning home in Mumbai. He alleged even Sonia Gandhi and the Vadra family behind the attack. However, the moment his video surfaced on social media, an FIR was registered at the Sadar Police Station in Nagpur by the Nagpur Guardian Minister, Dr. Nitin Raut who alleged that the anchor was spreading lies and rumors about the party and the chief.
He alleged that Goswami was playing rumor cards in context to the Palghar mob lynching case. Thus the Nagpur Police have registered a case against the anchor on various IPC Sections including 153A, 295 and 502. These sections deal with promoting enmity against different groups, indulging in acts of spreading rumors on religious grounds and making a statement to create rift and enmity between two communities.
