NMC ready to asphalt the section of Khamla Road from Savarkar Nagar Square to Ajni Square
Very large number of people use this road daily. It has not been wired at all for the last 20 years
Nagpur: The (NMC) Nagpur Municipal Corporation is well prepared to lay asphalt from Savarkar Nagar Square (also known as the Orange City Hospital Square) on the Khamla Road to Ajni Square. And now the tender process has also started.
A very large number of people use this road daily. It has not been wired at all for the last 20 years. The road is now in a very bad condition with some potholes and a flaky layer of the surface.
It was also reported on the date of 15 October that not only the road was abandoned from the Cement Concrete Road Project Phase-I. Rather, about 17 major roads were also cleared for asphalt sometime back.
On October 18, Civic Body has issued tender worth Rs 1.41 crore
Taking cognizance of this report, the civic body has issued a tender for about Rs 1.41 crore for road asphaltization on the date of 18 October.
Tenders will be opened on the date of 15 November. About 45 days will also be given to the contractor to complete the project from the date of the issue of the work order.
The tender was floated before taking administrative approval from the Standing Committee. Approval was also received on Friday.
This road was also a part of the Phase-I of the Cement Concrete Road project implemented in June 2011. But it was never confirmed. Contractor Unity Infraprojects Pvt Ltd cited the water pipeline under the road as the reason for the inordinate delay. The contractor left the project in February 2019. Tender for the concreting of all the remaining roads under this project is also awaited.
