Sir Kasturchand Daga’s statue at KP Ground Destroyed with the Tree Falling on it
The Statue of Diwan Bahadur Sir Kasturchand Daga has remained adored in the Kingsway area since long. This has made this space popular in the city but as per the latest buzz, the sudden rainstorm led a huge neem tree to fall over the KP ground came over the statue thus damaging the same. The storm led the tree to uproot and fall over the island where the statue was seen located. The statue was later broken into several pieces thus damaging even the identity of the same.
Talking about the same, Govind Daga who happens to be the grandson of the man in statue called it to be a strange coincidence. He was talking to the local newspaper and recalled several things about his grandfather calling him a philosophical person. While recalling the work of the statue and the space he said that it started in 1918, which is also recorded in history especially during the plague that took place in Spain the same year.
He called it a strange coincidence to see its start from the plague and the statue lasted till the next plague hit the world. He informed that the statue was built by Sir Maneckji B Dadabhoy, KIT CIE who was the business partner of his grandfather. The two had played a key role in carrying out the industrial development in India for which the duo would be always remembered. He said the damage of the statue amid this controversy speaks a lot.
