NAGPUR: The state’s first ‘visitor management system’ will help Bhandara SP Lohit Matani monitor each and every complainant who arrives at the farthest police station in his district at Lakhandur, about 80 km from his office.

System had been put in place to make the grievance redressal mechanism much simpler, For which many times the complainants had to travel a long distance to reach Bhandara and meet the SP or senior officials.

The system was launched on March 1 at Andhalgaon Police Station, where Range IG Cherring Dorje inaugurated the pilot project in the presence of Lohit Matani. Assistant PI Nitinkumar Rajput has also informed that arrangements had already been made with some of the complainants, including a woman, at the Andhalgaon police station.

“A woman was among the first few complainants whose complaint was registered and a non-cognizable offense has been registered, which is under investigation,” Rajput said adding that entry of the complainant had been done and therefore the purpose of his coming to the police station could be monitored centrally by the SP.

Lohit Matani also said that the visitor management system is going to help in significantly streamlining the grievance redressal process, reducing delays and improving service delivery. “All visitors to any Police Station, Sub-Divisional Police Officer and SP’s office shall be registered, And the data base of all the visitors will be managed digitally through an online software,” They said.

SP may verify whether appropriate action was taken

Lohit Matani also said that the response time after visitor’s entry and the action taken on his complaint, right from registration of FIR to non-cognizable offense or receipt of application, will be monitored and investigated. “The system will be helpful in reducing response time and increasing accountability,” SP said.

Lohit Matani further said that each visitor’s slip would also have an entry of comments of senior officers like SP, which would be sent to the police station for registration of FIR.

“The action will be swift as comments from senior and supervisory level officers will make it imperative for subordinate officers to react and respond.” Lohit Matani said adding that SP may also verify whether appropriate action was taken and its status subsequently.

The SP has also said that feedback can also be taken centrally regarding the satisfaction or complaint of the visitors. “Non-registration of offenses can also be curbed,” he added.
