Tomorrow 560 voters to decide fate of 3 MLC election candidates

Nagpur: Only 559 voters will decide the fate of the candidates for the MLC election of the local body constituency on Friday. And the returning officer collector for this election whose name is R Vimala. Under his leadership, the district administration has made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of elections. The administration has also set up about 15 centers across the district for the polling to be held from 8 in the morning to 4 in the evening.

R Vimala has said that we have given instructions to the local police to make elaborate security arrangements at each of the centres. As a precaution, the bridge and other centers operating from the Collectorate on Friday will remain closed. And importantly also a voter who is coronavirus positive, They can also exercise their franchise between 3 pm to 4 pm with adequate protocol and precautionary measures.

EVM machines will not be used

For this seat, about 10 nominations were received from 5 candidates. And of these, 2 have withdrawn the name. Because of which independent Mangesh Deshmukh, Ravindra Bhoyar of Congress, and Chandrashekhar Bawankule of BJP were in the fray.

Minal Kalaskar Deputy Collector has informed that the polling material will be sent to the respective centers on the morning of Thursday.

Kalaskar has also said that as per the directions of the State Election Commission, each center will have elaborate security and other arrangements for the voters.

Unlike civic polls, EVMs will not be used for MLC elections at all. And voters will also be provided with ballot papers in which they will have to give preference to 3 candidates, 1, 2, and 3. They also need to fill out the paper very carefully and any attempt to overwrite or rewrite the text will invalidate the vote.

Along with this, a voter can also give only one preference. But it should not be repeated at all for other candidates, Otherwise, that vote will be invalid.

These voters are required to carry identity documents such as PAN, Aadhar, and other cards while exercising their franchise.
