Two men test positive after death, one added to Nagpur Covid toll

The District Health Office (DHO) on Tuesday added one of these deaths to Nagpur city's coronavirus toll. It is not clear why only one death has been added.

Nagpur: Between January 6 and 10, 2 people aged 47 and 62 years have been declared dead in the GMCH. As per protocol, coronavirus test were conducted on the dead bodies, and they have tested positive.

Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sanjay Chilkar has said that the 47-year-old was not an active coronavirus patient. He has said that he has passed away due to a heart attack on Monday. The RT-PCR result of the body sample has come positive on Tuesday. The second patient also had some non-covid reasons for death, But his body has tested positive.

Sanjay has also confirmed that the death count will be tallied with the official figures.

The covid toll of this district has been around 10,124 on Tuesday. The date of August 12 was probably the last time an active coronavirus patient in the city had succumbed to the disease.

A relative has also said that the 62-year-old man used to work in a canteen on the GMCH campus. he was sick, But he was not a coronavirus patient, However, his body sample tested positive.

Large number of covid cases

Officials of the GMCH Pulmonology Department have also confirmed that no patient of the coronavirus ward has died this month.

The civic authorities have said that the forensic department had informed the DHO, Who did it ‘accidentally’ added to the toll.

Officials of the forensic department have said that they have been conducting RT-PCR on the body even more rapid antigen test since the start of the pandemic.

A large number of covid cases are coming up in the district. 799 cases were found on Tuesday. A private hospital had registered the death of a resident of Chandrapur earlier this month.

5,309 cases of covid have been registered in the 11 days of the month of January, Which is more than the cases reported in any month between the months of June and December.
