4 arrested for hunting tiger
Based on the inputs of intelligence, a team of forest personnel led by RFO, VB Kambli, Saoli has raided the house of a Pandurang Gedam in Pendri village of Tehsil of Saoli.
Chandrapur: On Thursday, the forest officials of Saoli’s range busted a case of tiger poaching and arrested 4 accused involved in poaching and disposal of tiger carcasses. Forest officials have recovered around 11 moustaches of the hunted tiger. And this buried dead body will be removed on Friday in the presence of veterinarians and higher officials.
Based on the inputs of intelligence, a team of forest personnel led by RFO, VB Kambli, Saoli has raided the house of a Pandurang Gedam in Pendri village of Tehsil of Saoli.
RFO Kambli has said that along with this, Gedam has also been taken into custody. And during interrogation, he has also admitted that the death of the deceased tiger was due to electrified wire in the field of Hirchand Bhoyar. The body of the tiger was buried in the bank of a nearby river with the help of other accused.
Full grown tiger got electrocuted
Three more accused Ramdas Sherki, Pochu Gedam and Hirchand have also been arrested in this case. During the investigation, it has also come to the fore that Bhoyar had surrounded his own field with electric wires.
So that vegetarians can’t intrude at all, But about 3 months back a full grown tiger was struck by lightning while crossing the field. “Hirchand, with the help of Pochu, Pandurang, and Ramdas pulled the carcass of this tiger to the bank of a nearby river,” RFO said.
The RFO further said that the accused dug a pit in the bank and then buried the tiger’s carcass. But greedily, he removed the mustache from the carcass of the tiger, due to which his crime was exposed. And also said that they have also identified the place of poaching and burial of this tiger.
