62-year-old Niranjan Wanjari donor’s kidney saved life

Despite the devastating loss, Wanjari’s family, including his wife Veena, son Pratik, and daughters Akansha Meshram and Sakshi Wanjari, consented to donate his organs.

Nagpur: The city witnessed another display of compassion on Wednesday as the family of Niranjan Wanjari, a retired laborer from Kalamana Railway ITD, made the decision to donate his organs. Wanjari, 63, passed away at Kims-Kingsway Hospital on June 14 after experiencing a sudden loss of function on the left side of his body, resulting from massive bleeding in the brain.

Following the protocols set by the ZTCC-Nagpur committee, the organs were allocated according to the state guidelines, One of the kidneys was successfully transplanted into a 48-year-old woman at KIMS-Kingsway Hospital, while the other kidney gave a new lease of life to a 45-year-old male recipient at New Era Hospital.

Following the protocols set by the ZTCC-Nagpur committee, the organs were allocated according to the state guidelines. One of the kidneys was successfully transplanted into a 48-year-old woman at KIMS-Kingsway Hospital, while the other kidney gave a new lease of life to a 45-year-old male recipient at New Era Hospital.

This marked the 109th deceased organ donation

The staff at Kims-Kingsway Hospital arranged an honor corridor, paying tribute to the departed donor. The hospital also provided free ambulance services, accompanying the mortal remains of the donor to their native place in Bhilgaon, where he was laid to rest.

This marked the 109th deceased organ donation since the formation of the ZTCC-Nagpur and the 14th deceased donor this year.

“Thanks to the increasing awareness among citizens, this was April’s third deceased organ donation. It has been made possible thanks to increased awareness about organ donation in which the media played a key role,” said Dr. Sanjay Kolte, president of the ZTCC Nagpur.
