Independent candidate Deshmukh is in fray with the support of BJP, Congress, BSP members

As Suresh Rewatkar of NCP (Narkhed) withdrew his nomination on Friday following a request from Congress party leader Nana Gawande, Mangesh is the 3rd candidate.

Nagpur: Independent candidate Mangesh Deshmukh is in the fray along with Dr. Ravindra ‘Chotu’ Bhoyar (Congress) and Chandrashekar Bawankule (Bharatiya Janata Party) for the MLC elections from the local officials’ constituency, based on the support of elected representatives of Bharatiya Janata Party, Congress, and BSP.

As Suresh Rewatkar of NCP (Narkhed) withdrew his nomination on Friday following a request from Congress party leader Nana Gawande, Mangesh is the 3rd candidate. And he is also the lone independent in this election.

Mangesh, aged 38, is also known as the rival of Chandrashekar. Mangesh has worked as an independent councilor thrice in Mahadulla Nagar Panchayat adjoining Koradi. And he has also contested the assembly elections from the Kampti constituency as an independent.

Coal scam busted

According to these criteria, the support of about 10 voters is very much required for 1 candidate to become eligible to fill the nomination form. Mangesh has told that there are also 19 councilors and city council chiefs who are directly elected by the people in Mahadulla. About 10 councilors, 6 from Bharatiya Janata Party, 2 from the Congress party, and 1 councilor of BSP have supported Mangesh in filing nomination papers. And they will try to persuade them to vote for themselves as well as other members.

Mangesh, who recently exposed the coal scam at Koradi Thermal Power Station, is said to be a worker of Prahar Janshakti’s party which is also a part of Maha Vikas Aghadi. And party leader Bacchu Kadu is also a minister in the government.

He has also said that he had contested the Mahadulla Nagar Panchayat election as an independent candidate. Here too he is contesting as an independent. For this reason, they should not be associated with Prahar at all.

BSP has about 10 seats in Nagpur Municipal Corporation. And this party also has many more seats in rural areas. And yet BSP has not fielded its candidate.
