Nagpur: Only a day after the price of petrol and diesel was cut in 9 Bharatiya Janata Party ruled states, The BJP has now pulled up the Maharashtra government for not reducing the state’s Value Added Tax (VAT) on petroleum products at all in the state.
Just a day after the Center cut diesel and petrol prices by Rs 10 and Rs 5 respectively, The ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance has responded that the BJP has reduced these prices only after it lost the recent by-elections in some states.
Union Minister of State for Finance Bhagwat Karad has said that he will talk to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar to reduce the state taxes on petrol and diesel by about Rs.7.
Diesel will be reduced by Rs 10 and Petrol by Rs 5
Sanjay Raut, Shiv Sena MP, has said that First, he increased the petroleum products prices by about Rs 100 and then reduced it to about Rs 5. The Center had to reduce it to at least around Rs 25. If the public wants to make diesel-petrol even cheaper by about Rs 50. Then BJP should throw it out.
According to the notification of the Union Finance Ministry, the excise duty on diesel will be reduced by about Rs 10 and on petrol by about Rs 5 and it will be effective well from Thursday. The government has also urged states to “proportionately reduce” Value Added Tax on diesel and petrol to provide relief to consumers.
9 BJP ruled states have also announced additional cuts in diesel and petrol rates, only after the central government’s request for reduction in excise duty and states to further reduce their prices. The 9 BJP ruled states in which additional cuts in diesel and petrol prices have been announced. They are Karnataka, Goa, Assam, Manipur, Uttar Pradesh, Tripura, Gujarat, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.
