Doctor in Nagpur Invents a safety box for COVID 19 Patients
In the ongoing tough time in the country amidst the emergency of the COVID-19 pandemic, we see a ray of hope in Nagpur city. Dr Sameer Arbat a known medical professional from Nagpur seems to have designed a safety box for carrying out difficult bronchoscopy procedures over the suspected or confirmed patients of COVID-19. Dr. Sameer has been the youngest Interventional Pulmonologist in Nagpur city and was recently chosen as the youngest International Faculty at the World Association of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology (WABIP) program.
As per reports, the doctor has designed the safety kit to perform bronchoscopy procedures in patients who are doubtful about the COVID-19 disease. Talking about the Bronchoscopy Safety Box”, it is designed by Dr. Sameer Arbat with a box with apertures on different sides. One can see two operator apertures, one is called the assistant aperture and the other one is known as the bronchoscopy aperture. Each one of them is covered with the plastic sheet valve that opens and with the entry and exit of hands along with the bronchoscope as well.
Besides, one can find an additional aperture as well that connects a negative suction cannula for suctioning the aerosol that seems to have been generated during the procedure. The patient then ends getting the PVC sheet curtains in order to accommodate the shoulders or chest of patient. This box can be even used for Endotracheal Intubation, which is an important procedure to test the patients of COVID-19. Dr. Sameer has designed and conceptualized the machine last month only.
