Nagpur: Due to low occupancy, the much talked about first Vande Bharat Express on the Bilaspur-Nagpur-Bilaspur stretch has been temporarily replaced by Tejas Express from Sunday. And Vande Bharat rake is also going to run between Tirupati-Secunderabad.
A notification to this effect had been issued on the date of May 11, 2023. The first journey of Tejas also reached Nagpur on the day of Vande Bharat on Sunday. The occupancy of Vande Bharat was around 50%, which was also the lowest in comparison to other Vande Bharat trains operating in the country.
The Vande Bharat Express was launched on 11th December amid much fanfare by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, due to the high cost of rent, the occupancy was far from satisfactory from day one. The fare for the executive class from Nagpur-Bilaspur was around Rs 2,045 while that of the car chair was Rs 1,075.
Passengers have already been informed about the difference in refund
Tejas Express will also have 11 coaches. It also includes two executive class coaches with 56 seats each and seven chair cars with 78 seats each. There will be two power cars.
20825/20826 Bilaspur-Nagpur-Bilaspur Vande Bharat used to leave Bilaspur at 6.45 am and reach Nagpur by 12.15 pm. The same rake left Nagpur at 2.05 pm and reached Bilaspur at 7.35 pm. The timing and train number of Tejas Express will be the same.
Senior railway officials said, “The passengers have already been informed about the difference in refund and fare. Onboard announcements are also being made in this regard. Special booths have been opened for refund.”
