First-ever toilet constructed for transgenders in Nagpur
Anand suggests that they transform the established toilets that are not in use for transgender people.
After more than four years of waiting, Nagpur finally got its first Transgender Public Toilet in the Lakadganj neighborhood, near the Kachi Visa Oswal Community Hall. It is also said to be Vidarbha’s first public toilet.
Since 2016, the community has expressed a desire for public restrooms for transgender people, as well as separate hospital wards and sex reassignment surgery (SRS) services provided by hospitals, according to Anand Chandani, President of the Sarthi Trust.
“We are pleased that the community has its first public toilet, though it should have been located in areas with a high population density, such as Hansapuri, Momenpura Khadan, Mariam Nagar, civil lines, and Taj Bagh,” Anand stated “. “We believe that the civil administration will open more of such types of facilities for the community. If the management does not have extra funds, Anand suggests that they transform the established toilets that are not in use for transgender people.
